Madresfield Estate to open grill restaurant in Great Malvern
A COUNTRY estate is set to open a restaurant in the heart of Malvern.
Madresfield Estate is transforming the old TSB building in Church Street into a grill restaurant. The restaurant will also include a click and collect butchery, and will sell meat that comes from the estate’s own farm. It will even sell beer made on the estate.
Hoardings bearing the Madresfield name have appeared on the shop unit, which has been empty since Malvern’s branch of TSB closed in 2021.
Edward Ford, head of food and beverage operations at Madresfield Estate, said the restaurant will form part of a wider project. And it was always the aim to sell our produce to the local community.“The restaurant will have a charcoal grill and there’ll be a focus on natural food, beautifully cooked. “We are also starting to make our own beer and that will also be sold in the restaurant. “There will also be the click and collect butchery element, so we can make sure we’re providing for people at home as well.”
While a date for the restaurant’s opening is yet to be set, it is hoped this will be sometime in February 2024. And the opening is good news for the local economy.
“We are creating jobs at the farm and the restaurant itself will be filled with a whole new team,” said Mr Ford.
He said longer-term projects at Madresfield Estate included one to grow heritage grains, with a view to producing its own flour, and plans to open a cafe at the estate.
